When it comes to dressing up your look, a jacket is always your best bet. A man who wears a jacket will create a positive impression and distinguish himself amongst his peers. With the right jacket and the knowledge of how to pair each one, you can wear yours to project professionalism, competence and success. However, there are some variations to consider when choosing a jacket. So how to choose between a sports jacket, a blazer and a suit jacket?
What are the differences between the three jackets?
Let’s find out!
A sports jacket is a patterned jacket that coordinates with trousers, typically in a solid complimentary fabric. And because it fits loose, it allows layering. It’s the most casual option and is perfect for a more casual workplace. Wear it with a tie or a pair of jeans.

A blazer is a solid color jacket with contrasting buttons, usually metal ones. It’s the perfect option for events that used to be black tie or formal. The navy blazer serves as an essential “go-to” in a well-dressed man’s wardrobe. It has a looser fit than the suit jacket.

A suit jacket has a pair of matching pants made from the same fabric or pattern as the jacket. A suit jacket cannot be worn as a sports jacket or a blazer because of the different details found in each. It’s more formal and structured. It has no fancy pockets or extra details. And, it fits closer to the body.
